The first episode of Power of Sport is now live - and it launches with a story that captures exactly what this podcast is about.

Our opening guest is Dean Morgan, whose early life took him in and out of the youth justice system and prison. At a critical moment, Dean reached a crossroads: continue down a path of crime, or choose a different, more fulfilling way forward.

He chose sport.

What began as a personal lifeline became a long-term commitment to ensuring others didn’t make the same dangerous choices he once did. Over time, Dean dedicated his life to using sport as a tool for structure, belonging and opportunity - particularly for young people who feel written off or overlooked.

In conversation with Xavier Wiggins, joined by broadcaster and journalist Aaron Paul, this episode goes beyond soundbites to explore Dean’s journey in full: the realities of second chances, the limits of the system, and the very real difference that trusted adults, safe spaces and meaningful activity can make.

Power of Sport is a new weekly podcast focused on the people and organisations using sport to change lives and strengthen communities. Each episode takes time to hear directly from those doing the work on the ground -their stories, their challenges, and what impact really looks like.

Episode 1 sets the tone for the series.
