Sport Local Action has launched a new podcast, Power of Sport, created to give proper space to the stories of people using sport to change lives and strengthen communities.
Hosted by Aaron Paul, sports journalist and broadcaster with the BBC, ITV and DAZN, alongside Xavier Wiggins, founder of Sport Local Action, the podcast focuses on the impact of sport well beyond the professional game. Each episode will explore how sport is being used to tackle issues such as mental health, inclusion, inequality and opportunity at a local and national level.
Power of Sport is designed as a weekly, conversational podcast, prioritising honesty and lived experience over headlines and soundbites. Guests will include practitioners, founders, athletes and community leaders whose work often goes unseen, despite having a profound impact.
A short preview episode is now live, introducing the thinking behind the podcast and what listeners can expect from future episodes. Full episodes will begin shortly.
The launch of Power of Sport builds on Sport Local Action’s ongoing commitment to amplifying sport-for-good work, following initiatives such as Walk92 and the development of the Sport Impact Hub.
The preview episode is available now on YouTube and Spotify
